January 2018 - Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month has passed the half way mark but there are plenty of great deals and events for those who want to learn how to ski or snowboard during January. Snow is falling in many parts of the country and the bone-chilling cold that descended on the East coast earlier in the month has tapered off.

Many ski and snowboard areas are offering reduced rates on beginner learning programs throughout the month. They are listed here:

ISKINY, the ski and snowboard advocacy group for the Empire state is hosting Discover NY Ski Day on January 18. ISKINY is also organizing the WInterjam in Central Park on Saturday, January 27.

Information about activities and deals in New York is here:

Sunday, January 21 is World Snow Day. The international event also encourages youths to learn how to ski or snowboard through its Bring Children to the Snow initiative. Many U.S. resorts are posted on its web site.

Ski New Hampshire is working with its member Alpine and cross-country locations to present Ski New Hampshire Weekend January 27 – 28. Resorts throughout the state are offering special programs in celebration.
