Hey There: We're glad that you want to learn how to ski or snowboard and the best way todo that is by taking lesson from trained instructors. You wouldn't ask a friend or family member to give you a tattoo, right? So why would you expect them to teach you how to ski or snowboard? Or, even try and teach yourself?
Ski and snowboard areas offer lesson programs all winter and January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Monthwhen many venues make their best offers for beginners. Retail partners also have special deals for beginners and today’s equipment has never been easier to use.

SHARE YOUR PASSION
Skiing and snowboarding are exhilarating lifetime sports. Starting out smart – taking lessons, dressing to stay warm and fueling the body with sensible foods – is the first step toward a happy first-time experience. Current skiers and snowboarders can increase their expertise with more advanced lessons
FIRST DAY FACES
Newcomers to skiing or snowboarding can simply post a photo from "first day lesson" and tag it #firstdayfaces. Send in a group shot if you brought friends or family members along for lessons.
You can win prizes by sending a “happy” photo of yourself and tag it #firstdayfaces.
BRING A FRIEND
No one wants to ski or snowboard alone. Current participants can help newcomers sign up for lessons from a pro. Newcomers can bring along friends or family members to join them in a lesson program.
Many of our partners have special Bring a Friend programs. The Bring a Friend Challenge rewards those who help newcomers sign up for beginner lessons. Anyone can be a Champion of Snow Sports through the Bring a Friend Challenge.
WHO WE ARE
Initiative partners come primarily from the ski and snowboard industry including national, regional and state associations, resorts, industry trade media, retailers, rep and retail organizations, and product-suppliers. ALL are welcome!
LSSM began in January 2009 in a handful of states. Now venues in 34 states have special learn to programs during Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month and all winter long. More than 750,000 children and adults have participated.
