Scott Kolts - 2014 Ambassador of the Year
Our 2014 Ambassador of the Year - Scott Kolts - is from Dahlgren, Illinois. He saw the Bring a Friend Challenge on the Paoli Peaks (IN) web site. He brought 14 newcomers - youths and adults - to Paoli Peaks and one to Steamboat for lessons from professional instructors. His daughter Alex and Scott are featured in this photo.
Scott was named our Ambassador of the Year for his efforts. He won a season pass to Paoli Peaks, a pair of skis from Head, a jacket from The North Face, gloves from Seirus and a trip to Utah among other prizes. See the video he did on his experience as Ambassador (below).
Scott began skiing 28 years ago and in Utah and has since moved to Southern Illinois. Here is what he had to say about one day at the Paoli Peaks slopes.
"Alex and I, as well as one of my friend's son Jake, stayed at the resort until about 9:30 PM so it was a FULL day for us. The rest of the group left earlier, but they all said they had a good time. There are a few of them that want to get back skiing. Jake, who is a high-school sophomore, couldn't stop talking about it as we were leaving the resort. He said it was the funnest thing he'd ever done. He was a natural, no doubt about it".
And what does Scott say about skiing? "It's the greatest sport on the planet, absolutely exhilerating and you can share the fun with your family and friends".
His advice for beginners? "Get a solid foundation by taking a lesson from a professional instructor. Don't be in a rush to master the sport." Scott, and his wife Mindi, have continued to recruit newcomers this year as well.
Thanks, Scott, for taking the Bring a Friend Challenge and for being named 2014 Ambassador of the Year for snow sports.
